FAQ
Why study neuroscience?
Neuroscience is a multidisciplinary field. It combines aspects of physics, chemistry, biology, psychology, sociology, computer science, and even philosophy. Simply put, there is something in it for everyone. Because of its interdisciplinary nature, neuroscience can be applied to many levels of many career paths, including medicine, research, education, psychology, law, engineering, and public policy. Fifty million Americans have neurological disabilities, and one in three Americans will experience a mental disorder in their lifetime. Understanding the mechanisms behind these diseases will help us develop better prevention strategies, treatments, and cures. The brain is the most complex and mysterious organ in the body. It is involved in every human endeavor and is the seat of our emotions, actions, memories and perceptions. By understanding its function, we can gain important insights about ourselves and about humanity.
How do I become a member?
